SAN ANTONIO, Dec. 13, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- The Ram Truck brand today, with the support of Chrysler Group LLC's Southwest Business Center in Dallas, delivered mounds of fresh man-made snow, a new 2014 ProMaster 2500 Series Cargo Van filled with toys, diapers and other supplies, plus a $25,000 grant from The Chrysler Foundation to support injured United States military personnel and their families at the Warrior & Family Support Center (W&FSC) at the San Antonio Military Medical Center (SAMMC).
The donations, which were presented to the Air Warrior Courage Foundation, were timed to coincide with the W&FSC's annual holiday party, making for a festive celebration like none other.
"The Ram Brand considers it an honor and a privilege to provide the all-new 2014 ProMaster van to support service members and their families who have played a vital role in in keeping America safe and free," said Reid Bigland, President and CEO, Ram Truck Brand. "The Air Warrior Courage Foundation is delighted by The Chrysler Foundation and RAM Truck brand support," said David Brog, executive director, Air Warrior Courage Foundation. "These gifts will be used to support the Warrior & Family Support Center, including Christmas gifts for the children who visit with their families, as well as to support the many other essential support programs provided by the Center."
The AWCF has been supporting wounded warriors and their families at SAMMC for more than eight years. The W&FSC is the community center at the military hospital complex that provides major support to wounded warriors and their families, including emotional support, referrals and rehabilitation to cope with war related disabilities.
"At Chrysler Group, we strive to make serving others part of our everyday mission," said Jody Trapasso, Senior Vice President - External Affairs, Chrysler Group LLC and President - The Chrysler Foundation. "The Air Warrior Courage Foundation makes a difference every day in the lives of returning heroes and their families. The Chrysler Foundation is proud to support these efforts."
About the Air Warrior Courage Foundation
The Air Warrior Courage Foundation was formed by military aviators to "care for our own." We work closely with the Red River Valley Fighter Pilots Association to do that. We focus on active duty, guard, reserve and retired military personnel and their families needing financial assistance for medical, educational, and other extraordinary expenses not covered by other military, veterans', or charitable institutions.
About the Warrior & Family Support Center
The Warrior and Family Support Center (W&FSC) provides coordinated services to patients, next-of-kin and extended family members with a primary focus on Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom Warriors. It provides a friendly, comfortable environment in which to take a break, watch a movie on big-screen TVs, play video games, check email or use the Internet, select a book or magazine to read, make a phone call, or just grab a cup of coffee. Wounded Warriors and their family members visit the W&FSC to maintain contact with other military members or extended Family Members, to receive emotional support, answers to their questions, and to extend their rehabilitation away from the hospital. The rehabilitation involves learning to cope with war related disabilities as individuals, as couples, and as families.
