FisherBroyles, LLP, a leading national law firm, is pleased to announce the addition of five new partners in Texas and the launch of new offices in Austin and Houston.
Dallas, Texas (PRWEB) February 05, 2013
FisherBroyles, LLP, a leading national law firm, is pleased to announce the addition of five new partners in Texas and the launch of new offices in Austin and Houston. The new locations were opened with the addition of four new partners: Jocelyn Dabeau and Sheryl Kinlaw in Austin, and Jennifer Davidow and Charles Meyer in Houston. David Olson becomes the tenth partner in the firm’s Dallas office, opened in 2008.
“Our clients know Texas is a great place for business and we are fully committed to expanding our presence and services here through the addition of high-caliber Texas attorneys like these new partners,” says FisherBroyles’ co-founder James Fisher II. “This recent growth is evidence that clients and attorneys alike are responding to our cloud-based platform that is breaking the molds of inefficiency found at large traditional law firms. We’re showing Texas a better way to practice law.”
Jocelyn Dabeau is a graduate of Harvard Law School and has served most recently as the General Counsel for the Texas Health Services Authority, where she specialized in HIPAA and other privacy and security law compliance for the state's electronic health care information exchange. Dabeau began her legal career in the intellectual property practice group at Thompson & Knight, LLP before spending six years in-house at Texas Instruments, where she supported TI’s wireless and consumer electronics business units. Dabeau was a teaching fellow at Harvard’s Berkman Center for Internet & Society and earned her undergraduate degree with high honors from the University of Texas at Austin. As a partner at FisherBroyles, she focuses her practice on healthcare IT, HIPAA compliance and transactions involving the purchase, sale, development, licensing and use of technology and related business agreements. “FisherBroyles’ approach for delivering high-quality service using partner-level attorneys while eliminating costly overhead is very impressive, and I’m excited to help grow FisherBroyles’ presence in Texas,” said Dabeau.
Jennifer Davidow spent twelve years at Vinson & Elkins, LLP in the appellate and litigation groups before joining FisherBroyles. She is an honors graduate of the University of Texas School of Law, where she was the Editor-in-Chief of the Texas Journal of Women and the Law. Before law school she earned her undergraduate degree with honors from Rice University. Davidow represents clients in a variety of complex commercial, tort, oil and gas, and healthcare litigation matters. She is also a leader in representing non-U.S. clients in U.S. litigation. “I practiced for more than a decade at an excellent law firm, but I was frustrated by the high hourly rates that all big firms seem to charge their clients,” said Davidow. “I was thrilled to find like-minded souls at FisherBroyles. We did away with most of our overhead costs, which allows us to charge much lower rates. Clients pay for our brains, not our marble conference tables.”
Sheryl Kinlaw has over a dozen years of in-house experience managing corporate legal functions such as M&A, securities, corporate governance, contracts, employment matters, regulatory compliance and risk management. She comes to FisherBroyles directly from her role as VP of Business & Legal Affairs for THQ, a publicly-traded international software and video gaming company. Kinlaw also served as the Senior VP & Counsel at Financial Industries Corp, a publicly-traded insurance and real estate holding company with consolidated assets of $1.3B. Kinlaw earned her degree in economics and international studies at UCLA before attending the University of Texas School of Law. “My passion is assisting public and start-up companies with a broad range of corporate and compliance issues by developing long-term client relationships as they grow their businesses,” said Kinlaw. “Most of all, I’m excited to be at a firm that is re-writing the textbook on delivering top-notch legal services while cutting out wasteful overhead that does not benefit our clients. FisherBroyles’ cloud-based platform is the wave of the future.”
Charles “Chuck” Meyer concentrates his practice at the intersection of corporate, business, commercial and intellectual property law. Meyer’s legal career has included positions with Jones Day, Compaq (now Hewlett Packard), and Research in Motion Limited (now known as BlackBerry®). At BlackBerry®, Meyer served as Chief Legal Officer and Corporate Secretary, and subsequently as a Director and lead executive for its European subsidiary. He earned an engineering degree from the University of Virginia and a masters in science from George Washington University before attending law school at American University. He clerked for the U.S. District Court of Hawaii and the Supreme Court of Ohio. Meyer also earned an advanced degree in law from the University of Oxford and has served as a visiting professor of IP law at the University of Pittsburgh and University of Houston law schools. As a partner at FisherBroyles, Meyer advises small to medium enterprises, domestic and international, on various aspects of corporate, commercial and intellectual property law. Meyer has been a licensed U.S. patent attorney since 1989. “As a former General Counsel, I know how important it is to rein in legal costs without sacrificing quality. That is the cornerstone of the practice at FisherBroyles, and I am excited and humbled to join such a talented group of lawyers,” said Meyer.
David Olson served for ten years as General Counsel for American Multiline Corporation, an international insurance staffing firm, where he supervised and managed the company’s contracts, compliance issues, employment matters, real estate interests, and litigation. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Trinity University, followed by graduate architecture studies at the University of Texas at Austin. Olson worked for a San Antonio architecture firm and the international design firm of HKS, Inc. in Dallas prior to earning a law degree from Texas Tech University School of Law. After law school, he leveraged his architectural and construction background doing construction litigation for Kemper Insurance Companies and later at a Dallas construction law firm. In addition to his civilian law practice, Olson is a Major in the Texas State Guard JAG Corps. At FisherBroyles, Olson focuses on clients’ general business transactions, contracts, employment matters and corporate governance and compliance issues for both for-profit and non-profit organizations. “Corporate clients today demand and appreciate cost-effective and efficient legal counsel from business-minded lawyers. These are hallmarks of the business law group at FisherBroyles and I am delighted to be a part of that practice,” said Olson.
Kelly Rittenberry, the firm’s Texas managing partner says, “We’re humbled by the success our clients have already provided us in the Dallas-Fort Worth market over the past five years, and we are very excited about this expansion to better serve our clients in Austin and Houston.” Rittenberry adds that FisherBroyles is actively recruiting highly-credentialed Texas attorneys who were trained at large firms or who possess substantial in-house experience.
