With five locations around the Nashville area, Snodgrass-King Pediatric Dental Associates places a high priority on providing a fun experience for children as it also offers state-of-the-art, quality dentistry services. The company’s latest tactic to keep kids happy: an indoor soft playground.
“I can’t tell you how many times parents call and say, ‘My child is dying to come to the dentist!’” says Melody Snodgrass, Director of Operations. “There are plenty of dentists where people can take their children. The experience we provide is a key differentiator for us.”
The company’s story began 25 years ago in a “teeny tiny” 1,600-square-foot clinic, says Melody. She and her husband, Dr. David Snodgrass launched the company together and, 12 years ago, welcomed Dr. John King to the practice.
The practice now includes 18 doctors and 200 employees.
Melody says that, beginning with their first big move out of the 1,600-square-foot facility, the company has placed a high priority on providing a fun experience for children. For years, they have provided arcades and games but Melody felt that they needed something fun and safe for younger children, so she called PLAYTIME, LLC.

“There is more and more competition in middle Tennessee all the time,” Melody explains. “You can go anywhere and get your kids’ teeth cleaned. Melody says children and parents love the new soft playground.
“We have one little kid who we think is making up toothaches just to come play,” she says. “We finally told the mom to let him come in and play for 20 to 30 minutes.”
She says parents appreciate the indoor play area because it makes it easier to convince children that going to the dentist is fun.
“Most people are apprehensive about going to the dentist themselves and especially about taking their children,” she says. “If we can make kids look forward to coming, it’s a much better experience for everyone.”
