Wanted: Honeymoon Tester, $20,000 Pay

(CANVAS STAFF REPORTS) - Imagine traveling overseas for six months and savoring cocktails in some exotic country with your loved one for free. That dream could become reality, thanks to an online contest.

The winner of the "The Ultimate Job in Ireland" will check out cool spots for a wedding or honeymoon – and receive more than $20,000. Hurry if you want to apply because the deadline is March 31.

Although the contest is promoting Ireland, the winner and their partner will visit places such as the Maldives or Zanzibar and write about the experience. Each trip is expected to last three to four weeks.

Although Runaway Bride and Groom company's "ultimate job" is an Irish-centric contest, entrants do not have to live in Ireland. They must, however, be over 18 years of age and upload an 80-second video to YouTube.com. Applicants must also write a 200-word essay on their favorite place in Ireland – after all, the winner will have to write for the The Irish Times' travel section. The Times is co-sponsoring the contest.

It's not the first time someone has offered to pay people to travel to a faraway place and write about it.

Last year, a British man won a 6-month gig and $100,000 as caretaker of the Great Barrier Reef islands. That contest was sponsored by the Queensland, Australia. Ben Southall got to live in a three-bedroom beach house overlooking the islands, fed the fish and filed weekly reports about the experience.

In the United States, a California winery ran a contest for a social media networker. Hardy Wallace received $60,000 and the tough job of drinking wine and spending loads of time on Facebook, Twitter and YouTube.
